Landis Patterson Mitchell
Landis(Pat) Mitchell, age 71, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014. He was born March 29, 1942, in Spindale, North Carolina, a son of the late Dr. L.P. Mitchell and Margaret Jane Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell, a graduate of Western Carolina University, and U. S. Navy Veteran, served three Vietnam tours aboard six aircraft carriers. He retired to Rutherford County after 30 years in the Charlotte area insurance industry.

Survivors are brothers, John W. Mitchell and wife, Patsy Hope Mitchell of Rutherfordton, N.C., T. Eugene Mitchell and wife, Mary Mitchell of Spindale, N.C., Nephew, Matthew G. Mitchell and wife Melissa Mitchell of Ft. Mill, S. C., Grand Nephew Joseph "Buck" Steel of Holden Beach, NC; Cousins John Campbell of Laguna Niguel, CA, Bill Mitchell of Alabama, Mary Anne Metzger of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 3:00P.M. at Chimney Rock Baptist Church, Chimney Rock, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the Lake Lure Inn in Lake Lure, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice of Rutherford County POB 336 Forest City NC 28043
