The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gary Groves can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: myra carpenter branch
Condolence: Dear Pam and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Gary. My memories go way back to us swinging in the yard at his Grandma Groves. We had great fun when he visited in the summer. He loved the country life and the land. I saw him recently in forest city and we had a good talk. I sure thought he was doing well and when he left his words were that he would pray for me. He was happy that he was cancer free. I rejoiced with him and I know he is in heaven. He loved his family so and loved telling about his children. My prayers are with you all for comfort from God.

Condolence From: Deborah Burgin, former District Court Judge
Condolence: Bill and Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family at this terribly difficult time. I know that you, as his father and step-mother, will cherish his memory forever, along with his siblings, widow, children, step-child, grandchildren and your friends. Both of you have suffered so much loss in your own lives, having lost your beloved first mates to death, and now a son. I know that it must give you and your family comfort that the two of you have been able to be such a source of emotional support for each other. I will remember Gary's friendly smile, as I'm sure you all will. I recall that smile many years ago when he delivered our mail to my office in Rutherfordton.
