Selma Faye Bright Jones, age 88, of Spindale, NC passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Accordius Health, formerly White Oak of Rutherfordton. Selma was the daughter of the late William Justice Bright and Ida Pool Bright, and was the wife of the late Gideon Price Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter Cynthia Jones of Spindale, Daughter-in-Law Debra Matheny Jones of Rutherfordton, Grandson Nick (Maggie) Jones of Forest City, Granddaughter Allison Jones of Rutherfordton, and Great Grandsons Jacob and Eli Jones, brother Ted Bright of Marion, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Selma was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Gideon Jones, her brother William “Brother” Bright, and sisters Wilma Reel, Willie Mae Davis, and Betty Ann Whitson.
Selma graduated high school and began working at Roses in Marion, and later worked at Tanner and Stonecutter after moving to Spindale. She was an active member of Spencer Baptist Church and enjoyed her time playing in the Kitchen Band and working with the children for after school activities.
Services will be held on Friday March 13th at 2:00PM at Spencer Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Caldwell officiating, burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery.
