Obituary for Ruth Virginia Epley (Peacock)

Ruth Virginia Epley (Peacock)
God saw the road was getting rough, the hills too high to climb. So, He gently closed her weary eyes,
and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.” The hourglass with its sands of time has slowly but surely spilled its
contents; and with the passing of the last sand, went the life of our loved one and friend.
Mrs. Ruth Virginia Epley was the daughter of the late Mr. Paul Vernon Wampler and the late
Emma Grace Smith Wampler; she was born July 26, 1953, in Washington, D.C. She entered the
public schools in North Carolina and graduated from Forbush High School in East Bend in 1971.
Her aspirations of caring for and helping others led her to Bowman Gray School of Medicine of
Winston Salem, N.C., where she received an associate degree in Nuclear Technology Medicine.
Mrs. Virginia was a diligent, zealous, and hard-working woman with several fulfilling jobs. Her
career transitioned to working as a correctional officer for the State of North Carolina until her
retirement. She devoted many hours to gardening, taking care of her lawn, and planting
beautiful flowers. During her downtime, she enjoyed watching her favorite shows: Gomer Pyle,
Judge Judy, and People's Court, and she was a super fan of Star Trek.
She faithfully served her ministry as Secretary of the Women 39's Circle and various other
positions until her health declined. On June 8, 2022, she heard the voice of God, and
unexpectedly she passed away.
Her parents and brother, Les Peacock, preceded her death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Nathan Dennis Martin, Jr. (Erica) of Greenville,
S.C., and Terry Dale Martin (Ashley) of Newnan, GA; six grandchildren, Anderson Coleman
Lail, Aurora Alexis Martin, Elana Victoria Martin, Luke Martin, AJ Martin, and Nathan Ryan
Martin; one great-grandchild, Delilah Duncan; one sister, Elizabeth Hutchins of Hickory, N.C.;
one brother, Stephen Wampler (Deborah) of Forest City, N.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, and
other relatives and friends.
