Richard Luther  Gundel
Richard Luther Gundel “Dick”, age 88 of Lake Lure, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hospice House. A native of Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Luther and Dorothea Stegemann Gundel .He was a graduate of Yale University and attended graduate school at Syracuse University. Dick was a district manager for General Electric for 32 years. He was a member of Fairfield Mountains Chapel and a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving aboard the USS Providence from 1943-1947.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Anne Cave Gundel of the home; sons Norman and Lynn Gundel of Cornelius, NC, Rick and Vanessa Gundel of Safety Harbor, FL and Robert Gundel of Houston, TX; five grandchildren; stepchildren Kathleen, Frank, Patrick, Michael and Kelly; sister in law Jean Gundel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Gundel.

Memorial services will be held 3:00PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Fairfields Mountain Chapel with Rev. Everett Chapman officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends after the service.
