Kermit Wayne "Buck"  Ammons
Kermit Wayne Ammons, “Buck” as he was known by his family and friends was born November 15, 1937 and died at Hospice House on May 29, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Briscoe Ammons of Union Mills, by son Wayne Ammons and wife Judy of Forest City, son Richard Ammons of Lake Lure, son Joel Ammons and fiancé Julie Hayes of Union Mills, daughter Cynthia Ammons and husband Brice Kaminski of Fort Worth, TX, granddaughter Haley Perry and husband Aaron of Fletcher, granddaughter Diamond Hunt of Rutherfordton, great-granddaughters Isla Perry, Evie Perry, and Elizabeth Trout, great-grandson Brendan Hunt, brother James Ammons and wife Betty of Dobbinsville, sister Cindy Ammons and her husband Tommy Kimbell of Spindale, and sister Brenda Mills and husband Gary of Rutherfordton.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Annie Sue Ferguson Ammons, one brother Richard Ammons, one sister Carol Thompson and one grandson Brent Ammons.
Buck worked many years in the local textile mills and was a member of his boyhood church Centennial Methodist. His retirement years gave him ample time to enjoy gardening. His family and friends enjoyed watermelons, tomatoes, and other vegetables that he grew. His Georgia-Bell peach tree had peaches that many said were the most wonderful peaches ever eaten.
There will be a celebration of his life in July of this year held by his family and friends.
