Obituary for Kathleen Lida Michaud (Hurd)
Rutherfordton, NC
Kathleen L. Michaud age 73 passed away Friday May 8, 2015 at her home.
Kathy grew up in Waterville, ME and after marriage lived in Unionville, CT for eleven years. In 1976 she moved to Putnam, CT where she resided for thirty-one years and co-owned Cady Brook Farm. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Rutherford County NC where they have resided for the past eight years.
Kathy was always a joyful spirit who always had a smile for her many friends and family. She enjoyed puzzles, playing the occasional slot at the casino, country music, traveling in her motor home and watching NASCAR with her husband. Whether working in her yard or hanging clothes, she always kept busy and derived great pleasure from the simple things in life.
She fought a brief battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme with the same grace and dignity that she lived her life. She was a remarkable woman who was truly loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Verne & Evelyn Hurd, siblings Bernard Pinnette, Shirley Sawlivich, Verne Hurd, Jr., Merle Hurd and Rebecca Hurd. She was also preceded by a great granddaughter Violet Sky.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Fern Michaud of the home, son John Michaud and his wife Laura of Putnam, CT; daughter Sharon Michaud of Hudson, NH, son Gary Michaud and his girlfriend Lynnette Smith of Putnam, CT; daughter-in-law Maria Generis of Putnam, CT; seven beloved grandchildren – Johnny Michaud and his wife Erin, Justin, Nicole, Adam, Ryan, Trevor and Amanda Michaud; brother Lawrence Hurd, sisters Patricia Roy, Margaret Fortin, Arlene Hurd and Rachel Raven.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City NC 28043.
