Jan was a fun mom. Like every other teenage girl, I would look at the mom of my best friend and wish she was my mom! She was quick witted and gave the best advice when it came to boys and girl stuff! Both of our moms were nurses, so they were tough, but had that compassion that made them tender when it was needed.
As a teenager, Linda and I were in the Cavalier Band together and belonged to a lot of the same clubs, so we shared many mutual friends. Norman and Jan were quick to open their home (at a moment's notice) to a group of teenagers for parties and gatherings that always ended up with lots of food, fun and laughter. They even closed in and remodeled their garage to make a rec room for these events. With four daughters, I'm sure Jan had lots of talks and wiped away a lot of adolescent tears. She was an amazing woman, an excellent nurse and a fantastic mom! Love you, Jan!!!
Jan Matthisen will be missed by many!
