Obituary for Hartley Frank Jewett

Rutherfordton, NC

Mr. Hartley Frank Jewett age 87 of Ridgeland Drive went home to be with his Lord Saturday January 2, 2010.

A native of Maine he was the son of the late Clifford Erskine Jewett and Eva Cecil DesPres Jewett. A veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War Two, member of the American Legion, member of the V.F.W.; Mason and a retired driver for Standard Oil.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Clara Fowlkes Jewett of the home, two sons â€" Steven Jewett of Rutherfordton, NC and Donald Jewett of Richmond, VA. Three daughters â€" Leta Neuman of Minneapolis, MN; Sharon Jackson of Saint Petersburg, FL and Karen Conner of Rutherfordton, NC. Ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a number of other family members also survive.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Cathlyne Scarborough Jewett.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM Monday January 4, 2009 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Alan Marsh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM Wednesday January 6, 2009 at Memorial Park in Saint Petersburg, FL.
