Glen William Bennett, age 75, born December 25, 1939, of Columbus, NC (formerly of Rutherfordton), went home to the Lord on August 11, 2015. Glen was well known in the car business for over 40 years of automobile cleanup/detail work, where he was a perfectionist. He loved his family and NASCAR. Hard worker and giving man, he was a talker and cut-up, who drew everyone in that met him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Wilson Bennett, father William Bennett, brothers Howard Bennett and Lawson Bennett, sister Beatrice Robbins, stepdaughter Roxanne Case and grandson William H. Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kay Bennett of Columbus, NC; son, David H. Bennett and wife Sandy of Rutherfordton; daughters, Sheila Earp and husband Michael of Cliffside, Donna B. Cobb and husband Terry of Rutherfordton; stepson, Scott Nix of Columbus, NC; stepdaughter Angie Nix of Columbus, NC; grandchildren, David W. Bennett, Brooke Munsey, Vincent Earp, Whitney Munsey, Morgan Bennett, Jason Earp, Suzanne Cobb, and Ethan Nix; great grandchildren, Payton Cobb, Clay Godfrey, Jimmy Cash and Austin Ayers; sisters, Brenda Poteat, Estelle Jackson, Edna Bailey; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 4:30-6:00 PM Friday, August 14 at Crowe’s Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills 260 Fairwinds Rd Landrum SC 29356.
