Mrs. Gladys Walkup 85, of Rutherfordton died on Saturday April 4, 2009 at White Oak Manor. She was a native of Union Co. NC and the widow of Mr. Worth Walkup. She was the daughter of the late David and Dora Godfrey and had retired from Belk's Department Store as a sales clerk. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton. She is survived by her son Ronnie Walkup of Rutherfordton, One granddaughter and Sisters Emmy Lou Haywood of Waxaw NC, Mary Burgess of Raleigh NC, Jean Gordon of Monroe NC, Peggy Crabtree of Norfolk VA and Jackie Tucker of Cheasapeake VA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton with the funeral service to follow at 2 PM at the church. Rev. Ed Hillman and Rev. Tonya Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Rutherfordton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice or to the church.
