Condolence: Averette & Keith

Cheryl and I were at the coast when we heard of Aunt Franie's passing and was unable to attend her funeral, being out of town. I wanted to take this opportunity to send our families condolences to your family. We all loved Aunt Franie, she was so such a special, special person. We will keep you and Keith in our prayers and if there is anything we can do, please give us a call. We have always felt that all of you were a part of our family and we still do!

Condolence: To the family of Mrs. Haney,
I was a student at ICC from 1993-1996. Since I was a single mother at the time, I applied for and received a Pell Grant. During one of the quarters, my paperwork for the grant was late and I was told that I would not get the money in enough time to start the next quarter. I talked to Mrs Haney about it because I was taking her accounting class at the time and I was afraid that I would not be able to retain what she had taught me by taking a quarter off. She immediately pulled out her checkbook and offered to loan me the money to pay for my registration I was stunned that an instructor would so willingly do that for a student. I refused and told her that I wasn't sure when, or if, I would receive the grant money. Her response was that if the grant came through, I could repay her then. She also said that if for some reason I didn't receive the grant, she would consider it an "investment" in my educational future. I took the check and used it to pay my fees. Later in the quarter, I did receive the grant money and promptly paid her back. I got the impression that she hadn't given it a thought. I cannot express how much her trust and encouragement affected me, but I can tell you that I graduated from ICC with a 4.0 grade average. I have never forgotten her kindness, and I am sure there are many others who were encouraged by her.

Condolence: Frances was an extra-special person, highly regarded at the college as a dedicated, no-fooling-around, get-down-to-business instructor, eager to help wherever she could, supportive of her students and dedicated to the college's mission, providing leadership and guidance as needed. She was a terrific lady, and seemed to live her life to the hilt. She's an example to us all, and we at Isothermal will always remember her with great fondness and respect. All those who knew her will miss her. My heart is with those who were closest to Frances.
