The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Erby Padgett can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Ricky Rollins

I can't recall the exact time I first met Scott yet feel it was 1961 during my 1st grade year when Scott was 2nd grade at Gilkey School. I became a best friend of Scott's younger brother and my classmate Ricky. Soon I began spending many school nights, weekends, and summer breaks for the next dozen formative years at their home(Georgia Maye's)with Ricky and Scott's three other brothers (Shull, Bill, and Mike)and two sisters (Jackie and Joy). They all became as close to me as my own four brothers were and this remains and still grows now 50 years since. I remember Scott always watched out for me and Ricky...no harm ever came our way because Scott always had our backs. Every one knew Scott was serious about the business at hand. Scott was like this for all my brothers and all his siblings. I never saw Scott in an actual fight...word did spread how great Scott was at taking care of business. Scott could settle things with great diplomacy...he always had a way with words. I grew to love him for this and for how kind he was to me and others. He kept us Padgett's and Rollins' in line yet you could feel the love he had for each of us. When he joined the U.S. Marines I was so proud for him and for our Country. He gave me a wallet photo of himself as a Marine...I believe there was never before, then, or since a Marine to fit the mold better than Scott did. After high school days I wasn't around Scott as often or the rest of the Padgett's yet Scott never left my heart and he never will. I know some day we'll meet again in Heaven. Ricky, my brother Jeff, Georgia, Mom and Dad, Vince, Granny and Pa, Roger, and all our loved ones will be there sitting around the table or in a living room prepared by Jesus enjoying each others' company and sharing stories and memories. I Thank You Scott for leaving me so many fond memories. I will miss you.
