Dennis Alton Greene, 91, of Rutherfordton passed away on Sunday, March 02, 2014 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Black Mountain. He was born in Cleveland County, NC to the late William Robert Greene and George Ann Gosey Greene. He was retired from textiles and a member of Southern Baptist Church. Dennis was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Marie Thomas Greene.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons Michael Greene and wife Judy of Gastonia and Charles Greene and wife Debra of Lincolnton, NC, grandchildren Richard Horne and wife Traci, Jennifer Smith Griggs and husband Ben, Karen Heston, Haley Greene Hester and husband Luke, and Heath Jordan Greene, great-grandchildren Ethan Horne, Abbey Horne, Lauren Smith, Lindsay Smith, Bailey Griggs, Zach Griggs, Ashley Griggs, Ariel Heston, Kaley Heston and Noah Heston, as well as a very special friend and caregiver Elsie Thrift.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Southern Baptist Church with Rev. John Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Sanctuary.
