On Saturday, April the 25th, David Earl Higgins passed away at the age of 54. David was born on June 21, 1965 to William Earl Higgins and Grace Roberts Higgins, and was a lifelong resident of Spindale, NC. David prided himself in being a specialist at all of his endeavors and was self-employed most of his adult life as the owner of B&H Motors, in Spindale NC. David’s love of cars and racing was in his blood. He grew up spending time with his Father at the local race tracks. His passions were drag racing, dirt track racing, and restoring classic cars. During his racing career, he won 44 races and 3 dirt track Championships. Everyone who knew David knew that his blood ran Ford blue and he was built “Ford Tough”. He touched hundreds of lives in the racing community and considered many of these people his "racing family.”

David was the family “rock”, a great man, father, and friend. His most cherished role was being Poppy and Best Friend to “Little Man”, his Grandson Cayden. From the moment Cayden was born, he was by his Poppy’s side racing, working on cars, or just hanging out being one of the guys. David was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his Beloved Daughter Kaitlyn Higgins Byers and her Husband Kaine Byer, grandsons Cayden and Karter, one Sister, Cherished Nephew Matthew Higgins, the Love of his life Elizabeth “Nugget” Yelton and her daughters Taylor and Holly Yelton.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

I know there is nothing for me to say that will make your loss easier, but know that I am sending you my love and support. I'm thankful for the few times that I spent with David, he was and instant friend and able to effortlessly make me laugh. More importantly, he brought an honest smile to my friend Elizabeth's face. I will continue to pray for all of his loved ones during this difficult time.
