David Douglas Conner, 64 of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Max and Fern Hamrick Conner. David was a brick mason and a member of Gilkey Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school and enjoyed Bible School. He loved to fish and camp at Cherokee, and enjoyed coloring and working puzzles with his great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Gay Dukes Conner of Rutherfordton; daughter Christy Conner Padgett and husband Charles of Rutherfordton; son Dave Conner and partner Keith Brewin of Rowlett, TX; granddaughters, Harley Hamrick and husband Lucas of Shelby, Tiffany Hamrick and husband Matt of GA, Madison Davis of Hilton Head, SC; grandson David Padgett of Rutherfordton; great grandson Jase Hamrick of Georgia; great granddaughter Cailynn Hamrick of Shelby; brothers, Billy Conner and wife Dianne of Spindale and Mack Conner and wife Nancy of Liberty, SC; sister Deborah Mills and husband Tom of Seneca, SC and fur babies Dixie, Bear and B.B.
