Barbara Jo Winters Shehan, 79, of Rutherfordton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18,
2021. Barbara was born August 17, 1941, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Lois Fennell Winters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-one years, Howard Lamar Shehan, and
two brothers, Bob Winters and Ed Winters. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and more
recently attended Forest Lake Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Chris Shehan and daughter, Holly Lawson (Kevin),
grandchildren, Anna Lawson and Brady Lawson, all of Rutherfordton; brother, Mike Winters (Carla) of
Stillwater, Oklahoma, sister, Mary Katherine Westrope (John) of Henryetta, Oklahoma, sister, Renea
Winters of Hugo, Oklahoma; stepsons, Greg Shehan (Teresa) of Cherryville, NC, Frank Shehan (Becky) of
Dallas, NC, and Dwite Shehan (Marti) of Cherryville, NC; step grandchildren, Anna Bowman (Nathan),
Alex Shehan, and Austin Shehan; step great grandchildren, Patrick and Robbie Bowman, and many
nieces and nephews.
A family service and burial will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black
Mountain, NC .with Rev. Ad Hopper officiating.
