Obituary for William Edward Morse

Print
William “Bill” Morse of Manassas, VA passed on November 11, 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC surrounded by family and close friends.

Bill is survived by Vickie, his beloved bride of 52 years. Also surviving are his children Christopher and Marya, his grandchildren Keely, Kaely, Kate and Liam as well as great grandchildren Leia and Brayden.

Always the gentleman, Bill was born in Syracuse, NY of James J. Morse and Florence M. (Johnson) Morse and joined the Army in 1966. He met Vickie while stationed in Albuquerque, NM and the couple was posted to Germany soon after they married. He and Vickie returned to upstate New York in 1969 and moved to California in 1970.

Bill began his career in law enforcement in the early 70’s working as a prison guard at southern California’s only maximum-security prison. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of La Verne in 1975, Bill advanced his career in corrections working as a parole agent in the Los Angeles area. Bill continued to serve his country as an Air Force Reservist through 1984 all the while being part owner of Allbrite Auto Chemicals, the family’s business, and investing in real estate with Vickie.

Bill retired from the State of California in 1991 and went on to earn an MBA from Phoenix University. His second career, as a professor at DeVry University for 15 years, allowed the couple to move back east to Virginia to be closer to their children and grandchildren who had settled on the east coast. In Virginia, he and Vickie became active members of the Immanuel Anglican Church community in Woodbridge, VA. Bill and Vickie also spent much time at their vacation home in Rutherfordton, NC, dubbed “The Farm”, and were also members of the Fairfield Mountains Chapel community in Lake Lure, NC. Bill treasured his time at “The Farm” and was most happy when the family joined him and Vickie to enjoy a holiday or long weekend together.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on December 14, 2019 at All Saints Church in Woodbridge, VA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Immanuel Anglican Church Building Fund at 1529 Old Bridge Road, Suite 103, Woodbridge, VA 22192.
