Obituary for Terry Dean Ellenburg
Terry Dean Ellenburg, 72, of Forest City passed, surrounded by his family Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Dean was born January 20, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late George Andrew Ellenburg and Lillian Ford Ellenburg. He was a graduate of RS Central class of '66 and was of the Baptist faith.
Dean was an Army Veteran and served honorably in Vietnam 1969/1970. Dean retired from Celanese Shelby in 2002 and worked in semi-retirement as a bus driver for Albemarle County Schools in Charlottesville, VA. In 2013, it was time for full retirement and in 2015 he moved back to Rutherford County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother David Ellenburg.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Kirby Ellenburg, son Matthew Clay Ellenburg, daughter-in-law Teresa Diaz Ellenburg of Bethesda, MD. Brothers George Harold Ellenburg, wife Mary, Michael Andrew Ellenburg, wife Myra of Rutherfordton, Donald Ray Ellenburg, wife Betty of Forest City. Sisters Joyce Wilson of Midlothian, VA, Donna Kay Edwards, husband Terry of Mill Spring and Evelyn Henrickson, husband Veon of Mount Vernon, OH. Also a wonderful number of aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Father’s Vineyard Family Life Center, 724 Oakland Road, Spindale, NC 28160 on June 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM. The family requests that guests observe safety measures of physical distancing, wearing masks, and use of hand sanitizer.
