Obituary for Rita Ann Causby (Causby)

Rita Ann Causby, age 55, wife of Faye Tatum, of 2162 Hudlow Road Forest City, passed away Tuesday September 27 at Hospice House. Rita was a resident of Rutherford County, NC, and the daughter of the late Larry Causby and Patsy Bolick Laughter. Rita was a graduate of R.S. Central High School where, she was an outstanding athlete receiving all county, all-conference, and state honors in several sports.
Upon graduation Rita enlisted in the United States Navy and was on active duty during Desert Storm. She was also employed by the Motorola Corporation, the North Carolina Department of Prisons, and the National Park Service.
Rita was a Ranger at the Great Smoky Mountains NP, Glacier NP, Redwoods NP, and Canaveral National Seashore. Rita was also a safety manager with the National Park Service serving in several different parks. Her safety zone was the Southeast Region and included Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, Fort Matanzas National Monument, Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, Fort Caroline National Monument, Desoto National Monument, Bandelier National Monument, Pecos National Historical Park, Petroglyph National Monument, El Malpais National Monument, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, and Fort Union National Monument.
In addition to her wife Faye, Rita leaves behind two sisters, Betty (Tom) Kesterson and Sherry (Shane) Ferguson; three nieces Amanda Francis, Heather Kesterson and Tonya Deviney, numerous great nieces and nephews and brother in laws Ron and Chuck Tatum. She was preceded in death by a nephew Chandler Deviney.

The family will receive friends Saturday October 15 from 2-4 PM at Crowe’s Mortuary. Military honors will be provided at 4 PM by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
