Obituary for Richard Arthur McCallum

Richard Arthur (Dick) McCallum stepped into glory Friday, April 7, 2023. Born August 3, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan, he was a son of the late Everett and Mary Paul Bradley McCallum. Dick started his career at Michigan Bell, married Joan Baser in 1978 and moved to New Jersey to work for AT&T. Upon retirement, Dick and Joan moved to Lake Lure, North Carolina.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his three children, Brenda Miniclier (Joe), Richard McCallum (Anne), Jill McCallum; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three on the way; two stepsons Kenneth Mundt (Kathy), Kevin Mundt (Michelle); and siblings Howard Gould and Millie Gould. Dick was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He dearly loved his family.

Dick was a very active member of Forest City Church of the Nazarene. He taught Sunday School, served on the church board as secretary and was a technical advisor. Dick was a private pilot and he and Joan traveled extensively. He and Joan enjoyed ballroom dancing. He would help anyone with anything and served on the Lake Lure Town Council for eight years. Most importantly, Dick loved Jesus and knew where he was going to spend eternity.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Forest City Church of the Nazarene, 728 Hardin Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
