Richard (Rick) Cooper, age 71, of Union Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Peekskill, NY, he was the son of the late Samuel Cooper and Agnes Mason Cooper. He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Christine Cooper.
Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, A Volunteer Firefighter, and an avid fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one son, Richard Cooper Jr. of Union Mills and three daughters: Leslie Cooper Gordineer of Clemmons, NC, Christine Feimster of Spindale and Stacey Cooper of Peekskill, NY. He is also survived by a sister Beverly Gordineer and a brother Keith Bohler, both of Cortlandt Manor, NY, eight grandchildren, three great granddaughters, four nieces and four nephews.
A private Celebration of Richards life will be held at Crowe’s Mortuary on Friday October 23, 2020 with Military Honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 890 Withrow Road, Spindale, NC 28160.
