Obituary for Norman Lowell Wells
Norman Lowell Wells, 91, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 while under the care of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Yates McCoy and Verna Greene Wells. A twenty year veteran of the US Navy, he served in Korea and Vietnam.
Lowell was a member of Harmon Street Baptist Church and played an active role in many aspects of the church. He retired from Duke Power. Lowell was an avid gardener, loved to travel and enjoyed woodworking.
Left to cherish is his wife, Virle Norville Wells; one daughter; two grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; four sisters; and a number of stepchildren and step grandchildren and greatgrandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Friday, July 22, 2022 at Harmon Street Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Church officiating . Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or the Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.
