Obituary for Nathan "Nick" Andrew McNeilly
Nathan Andrew McNeilly, age 69; known to loved ones as Nick and Nicky, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, February 19, 2021.
Born to Dorothy Cook McNeilly and Hazel Andrew McNeilly on November 26, 1951, Nick leaves his wife, Kathy, and his children, Matthew and Emily McNeilly, Joshua Burnett, and Kaitlyn McNeilly, as well five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Hill and Shari Godfrey, and his brothers, Sherrill, Stuart, Duane, and Tim McNeilly.
Whether you knew him from his time on the football team at RS Central High School in the late 60s, his career at Tanner Companies, seeing him on the lake or in a tree stand, you likely also knew his bright smile, his jovial laugh, and his warm presence. Nick was kind, generous, funny, selfless. He was knowledgeable in so many useful ways, and always had a story to share or joke to tell. He made everyone in his life happier and everyone loved to be around him. He cared about other people more than he did about himself. He was a present and loving husband, father, and friend.
Nick was a deeply loved member of his church and his community. His absence is greatly felt, and the impact of his love will be forever cherished.
Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the Prayer Garden of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2676 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043 with Dr. Scott Courtney officiating.
