Mary Ann Smith Mode, 77, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Anne Sims Smith. She was a member of 2nd Baptist Church and retired from the Rutherford County School System serving in food service.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Horace Mode of the home; son Anthony Mode and wife Lori of Morganton; daughter, Amanda Smith and husband Billy of Forest City; grandsons Anthony Smith of Forest City and Ryan Mode of Hildebran, NC; sisters Shirley Harmon of Newport News, VA, Faye Ward of Forest City; brother, Charles Smith of Rutherfordton.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Crowe’s Chapel with Dr. Keith Stephenson and Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mortuary.
