Obituary for Mary Sue Lange

Mary Sue Lange, age 72, passed away April 20, 2024 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer for 2 years. She was surrounded with her family and prayers as she went to be with Jesus.

She is the daughter of Tommy Coyest “Cody” Simmons and Mary Ida Simmons Whitaker who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Hawthorn and a brother, Clark Simmons.

She is survived by her husband Willis Norman Lange, Sr. of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; two sons, Willis Norman Lange, Jr (Cherise) of Chandler, Arizona and Travis Edwards Lange (Katie) of Minden, Louisiana; sisters Verda Lee Gladden of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas and Marsha Greene of DeRidder, Louisiana; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary was passionate about serving her local church and was one of the main secretaries at the Word of Faith Fellowship. Any time anyone needed anything she was always a helping hand. Even during her illness, she never wanted to miss a service. She loved her family, her church family, and doing whatever God put in her heart to do. She was much loved by many, many people.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 5:30 pm at the Word of Faith Fellowship Cemetery, 308 Godfrey Road, Forest City, NC 28043. The Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, April 23 at 6:30 pm at the Word of Faith Fellowship, 207 Old Flynn Road, Spindale NC 28160.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Word of Faith Fellowship Building Fund, 207 Old Flynn Road, Spindale, NC 28160.
