Obituary for Marion Crawford Williams

Marion Crawford Williams passed away on Saturday morning, October 22, 2022, at his home.
Born in Rutherford County, November 1, 1933, to Knox Williams and Myra Elizabeth Whitesides
Williams, Crawford remained in Rutherford County, farmed his entire life, never tiring of seeing
green things grow from the soil. He retired as a diesel mechanic at Russell Diesel Service in the
mid-nineties, which allowed him to spend more time outside on his tractor, gardening, growing
Pumpkins and a variety of other healthy vegetables.
Crawford was a lifelong attendee of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Sundays after church were for
Nascar races, (always pulling for the blue oval cars,) and the Atlanta Braves baseball games. All
of this, he shared with his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Bailey Williams, other family members
and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Arthur Williams,
sisters, Jo Evelyn Williams Conner and Louise Williams Elliott.
In addition to his wife he is survived by sisters, Sarah Williams Lyles and Katherine Williams
Myles, brothers-in-laws Clifford Conner, Arthur Bailey and Sam Moore, sister-in-laws, Bertha
Bailey and Pat Bailey Moore, and a number of nieces and nephews in the Williams and Bailey
families.
Crawford will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Norma, his family, and his many friends
who visited faithfully during his recent illness. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Monday
October 24, 2022, at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chester Waters officiating. Flowers are graciously welcomed and if
preferred memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, c/o Kathy Lattimore 986
Lattimore Rd Rutherfordton NC 28139.
