I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I don't remember meeting Mrs. Maefrey, but I know that I did. She was Mrs. Alice Hampton's childhood and lifelong best friend. Alice was my "Maw-Maw", and she loved Maefrey dearly. I DO remember that, because she spoke of her fondly, and always with a smile. Anyone around Rutherfordton that might remember me knew me as Yvonne Hardin. It gives me a sense of comfort to know that Maw-Maw and Maefrey get to visit again, and talk and laugh together the way only two lifelong best girl friends can. Prayers and condolences to the family.

Mama made us walk the walk when we were children and kept enforcement (a peach tree twig) on top of the refrigerator when we crossed her line. A few years ago I reminded her of that and she said, "Well, you turned out all right, didn't you?"

This is a Jewish prayer I share with you for the loss of a mother.
"I remember thee in this solemn hour, my dear mother. I remember the days when thou didst dwell on Earth, and thy tender love watched over me like a guardian angel. Thou hast gone from me, but the bond which unites our souls can never be severed; thine image lives within my heart. May the merciful Father reward thee for the faithfulness and kindness thou hast shown me; may he lift up the light of his countenance upon thee, and grant thee eternal peace. Amen."
Also, "May her memory be for a blessing."

Eldest daughter, Lois

My sincerest condolences to the family of Mrs. West. She was the sweetest lady I have ever known and it was an honor to have had her in my life. She always had a smile that would brighten any day. That is what I will miss the most and our inside joke about whipping Gail. I know that heaven is a must brighter place having her sweet, wonderful smile there. What a wonderful outlook on life she had, one we should all aspire to.
