Obituary for Lyndena Ann Scruggs

Lyndena Anne Scruggs (Lynn) was born into a Navy family on February 26, 1957, in Jacksonville, FL. Her parents would later relocate to the Norfolk, VA area and ultimately settle in Chesapeake, VA. Lynn graduated from Western Branch High School in 1975 and excelled in home economics and arts. After graduation Lynn attended beautician and cosmetology school in Portsmouth, VA and received her state license in 1977. She would spend most of her life working as a cosmetologist and floral artist which were her two passions. Lynn was a long-time member of the Word of Faith Fellowship of Spindale, NC. She loved and appreciated her church family.

She is preceded in death by her brother, David Scruggs; father, James B Scruggs, Sr.; grandparents, Wofford and Anna Scruggs, and Bradford and Helen Morser. Lynn is survived by her daughter Melissa Burroughs, her mother Constance Jean Theis of Portsmouth, VA, brother James Scruggs of Chesapeake, VA, brother Robert Scruggs of Gulfport, MS, sister Karen Dejesus of Chesapeake, VA, sister Peggy Butt of Chesapeake, VA, brother Brad Scruggs of West Columbia, TX, sister Carole Scruggs Reeves of Woodbridge, VA. She is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews and 29 grand nieces and nephews.
She was a much-loved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Philippians 1:21-23 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

Memorial services will be held 6:30 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Word of Faith Fellowship with Rev. Sam Whaley and Rev. Jane Whaley officiating.
