Obituary for Linda Kay Tomblin (Walker)
Linda Kaye Tomblin-Gibson, 81 years old of Myrtle Beach, SC, originally of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away on Monday September 19, 2022, after a brief illness.
Linda was a successful Christian author and ghost writer of several books and magazine articles. One of her most popular pieces was the book titled, Fingerprints of God. She was also a regional editor for Guideposts magazine for many years as well as a devotional writer for Mature Living magazine until her final days. Linda wrote many articles as a ghost writer over her lifetime.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved by so many people. She is survived by one brother, Dan Walker (Annette) of New Bern, NC. Four children; Andy Tomblin (Stephanie) of Rutherfordton, NC, Katie Haskins (Justin) of Gastonia, NC, Robin Hutchins (Joe) of Belize, and Mary Rochester (Don) of Myrtle Beach, SC. She also leaves behind five bonus children: David Tomblin (Jane), Arthur Tomblin (Debbie), Ted Gibson (Corinne), Dave Gibson, and Don Gibson (Patty). Linda also left behind ten grandchildren: Brooke, Maddie and Clara Tomblin, Laura and Logan Haskins, Luke and Sam Hutchins, Lydia and Matthew Fowler, and Marcus McCabe (Halle). She is survived by five great grandchildren: Tanner Hutchins, Lexi Fowler, Nick Fowler, and Casey and Cameron McCabe.
Linda was proceeded in death by Mr. Earl Tomblin, Mr. Don Gibson, a grandson Noah Garrett, a granddaughter Jenny Hutchins, and her mother Virginia Justice Lipscomb. Linda also left many other family and friends to cherish her memory.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Father’s Vineyard located at 724 Oakland Rd, Spindale, NC from 1pm-2pm. The funeral service will follow at 2pm. Burial immediately following at Oak Springs Baptist Church cemetery at 2591 Rock Road Rutherfordton, NC. Crowe’s Mortuary is assisting the family of Linda Tomblin-Gibson.
