Obituary for Leslie Lee Beale

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.”
William Shakespeare
Leslie Lee Beale made his entrance on February 25th, 1951, and made his final exit on June 13th, 2021. In those seventy years, he truly played many parts – son, brother, cousin, steel worker, martial artist, actor, director, musician. But perhaps his greatest roles were those of friend and mentor.
Les made many contributions to our community, both as a musician and through his work with the theatre. For all of his skills, perhaps his greatest talent was his ability to nurture and encourage others to share their gifts with the world.
A rescuer of strays – canine, feline, and human – Les provided comfort and support to all those he encountered. As an artist, he brought an element of magic to our small community, and, through his guidance, allowed others to find the magic within themselves. His loss will be deeply felt by generations of actors and musicians, as well as the friends and family he leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 26th, from 4pm until 9pm, at the Green River Plantation Pavilion. We ask that his musician friends bring and instrument and a few songs to share. We ask that all who attend bring along their favorite stories of Les to share around the table, just as he shared so many of his stories with us.
