Obituary for Julia Ethel Guffey
Ethel Guffey, 81, of Union Mills passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at her home. A native of Rutherford County, Ethel was the daughter of the late Clyde Ree and Anne Clements Whisnant. Ethel was a receptionist at Rutherford Hospital and a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jean Scruggs (Audrey), Joan Watson (Malcolm), Lynn Osteen (Terry); grandchildren, Chad Scruggs, Beth Smith (Steven), Jake Watson (Amie), Josh Scruggs (Josie), Tommy Watson (Julie), Timmy Osteen (Jessica) and Emily Mullins (Chris); sixteen greatgrandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Guffey and brother, Charles Whisnant.
Graveside services will be held 10 AM Monday, June 8, 2020 at Cane Creek Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Danny Camp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church, 151 Cane Creek Mountain Road, Union Mills, NC 28167 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
