Obituary for Joyce Price (Moore)
Joyce Moore Price, age 84 of Lake Lure, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, May 3rd, 2021. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Hazel Moore of the Oakland Community in Spindale, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Woodrow Price, her children Melissa Price-Stepp (Steve), of Lake Lure, and Rich Price (Susan) of the Whittier community in Jackson County, and her grandson Ryan Messer of Sylva, NC.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joyce’s contributions to her extended community in Rutherford and surrounding counties were the staple of a life well-lived. Always the first to lend a helping hand, she was considered a cherished friend to all who knew her for years, and became a new friend to so many along the way.
The family will observe a private reflection of Joyce’s life in the coming days. At this time, we respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, those interested may celebrate Joyce’s life by making donations to or volunteering with the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach community service organization, at 2556 Memorial Highway in Lake Lure (www.hickorynutgorgeoutreach.org).
