Obituary for John Thomas Phillips

John (Tommy) was born March 1st 1945 in Detroit Michigan. He was the son of Hugh and Francis Phillips of Shelby, NC. He was a 1964 graduate of Shelby High School.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter Audrey Phillips Asprogiannis of Cookeville, Tn., two sisters Susan Phillips Byers of Shelby, NC, Jackie Phillips Poston of Hendersonville, NC, two grandchildren Sarah Brown and husband John of Bamburg, SC and James Asprogiannis of Cookeville, Tn., two great grandchildren Logan and Athena Brown of Bamburg, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife LaVonda R. Phillips of Vale, N C and his parents Hugh and Frances Phillips

John served in the US Air Force in Vietnam for 4 years in the k-9 division. He was a mason at Cookville Masonic Lodge in Cookeville, NC. He was employed at Ethan Allen in Maiden, NC for 35 years as a tow motor operator. John was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He never met a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand where he could. He loved his military and was very proud to be an Air Force Veteran.

A celebration of his life will be at 2 PM April 29th in Round Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Richard officiating and full military honors provided.
