Obituary for Harvey "Peanut" Claude McDaniel

Harvey (Peanut) McDaniel, age 71, husband of Christine Atchley McDaniel passed away Sunday at Hospice House. Harvey was a native of Rutherford County growing up in Forest City. He was raised in foster care by the late Eva White (Granny), who loved him well. Protecting and serving the people of western North Carolina was Peanut’s calling as shown by his service with the Rutherford and Polk County Sheriff Departments, Rutherfordton and Lake Lure Police Departments and as a Security Officer for Rutherford Hospital collectively for over 40 years. Graduating from East Rutherford High School he went on to complete BLT training from Western Piedmont Community College along with DEA training and other certifications in law enforcement. Peanut was a member at Crestview Baptist Church and loved telling people about how good God is. He loved to fish, go out to eat, sit around the table with his family, play Rook, work outside, and love on all of his grand babies. He was a man that loved others well, a friend to many and was so loved by his family. He was always there for them.
If you knew Peanut, you would know how much he loved his family. He was blessed withhis first child, Carla McDaniel Lowery in 1972. Carla has always said how he is her hero. He married Christine Atchley McDaniel in 1985. Together, they joyfully helped raise three grandchildren- Kristen, Jordan and Zachary. In 2002, they were blessed with the surprise of their first child together, Nicholas McDaniel. Those also left to cherish his memory include; great grandchildren Kaizer Hodge, Judah London, Faith-Leigh London, Elizabeth London and Bella Rape; brother in law Tony Atchley (Cathy) and sister in law Sheila Henson (Kenny).
He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice that he is joyfully with his Lord and Savior- Jesus Christ, who he was ready to meet!
Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday September 13, 2022 at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Rohm, Rev. Wayne Stafford and Rev. Elijah London officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Eternal Hills Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043
