Harold Dean “Pete” Godfrey Sr., 85, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021at Oak Grove Healthcare Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Jim and Clyde Huffstickler Godfrey. Pete was a retired supervisor for American Greetings, and was a US Army veteran, where he enjoyed playing baseball as a left handed pitcher. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He later attended Smith Grove Baptist Church.
Pete coached football for the Spindale Recreation League for many years. He enjoyed bowling and golf, but most of all he was an avid fisherman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Amy Jarrett and husband Keith; sons Pete Godfrey Jr. and wife Ann’ and Greg “Peachie” Godfrey; grandsons Chase and Aaron Godfrey; great granddaughters, Alexis and Korbin Godfrey; great grandsons Clay and Channing Godfrey; brothers Russell and Curtis Godfrey, sister Linda Arrowood and daughter in law Shari Godfrey. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Godfrey and a son, Tony Godfrey.

Services will be private for the family.
