Obituary for Edwin Holt "Eddie" Gilbert

Edwin “Eddie” Holt Gilbert; passed away unexpectedly on June 5th at the age of 69.
Eddie was born in Rutherford County, and was a lifelong resident of Spindale, North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice “Tina” Duncan, and his father, aunt, and uncle, William Schuler “Bill” Duncan, Frances Harrill Duncan, and Charles “Russell” Duncan.
Eddie attended Rutherford Spindale Central High School, Appalachian State University and received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Gardner Webb University.
He spent 32 years as a State Certified Residential and Commercial Real Estate Appraiser in Polk County where he owned and operated, EHG Appraisal Services, Inc.
Aside from being survived by his son Joshua Duncan Gilbert, and his daughter Molly Gilbert Oakman, he leaves behind his loving partner Lynn Sessoms, daughter in law Leslie Johnson Gilbert, and his grandchildren: Grady DuBose Oakman, Kelty Anne Oakman, Josey Tamara Gilbert, Warren James Gilbert, Clementine Luella Sessoms and his faithful dog Winston.
In his free time, Eddie could be found watching sports, fly fishing, listening to music, bossing everyone around, and praying for his friends and family while walking his beloved dog.
Eddie was a man of routine. His loss will be felt by those involved in his morning coffee at McDonalds, walks on Thermal Belt Rail Trail, lunch at Nana’s Cafe, Thursday evenings at Copper Penny, and Saturday morning breakfast club.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11am at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1565 Oakland Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
The family will receive friends at Eddie’s home following the service from 1pm-6pm.
