Obituary for Denae Carol Davies

Rutherfordton, NC
Denae Carol Davies passed away on Friday morning, October 14, 2022 in her home with her pastor and family, praising God till her last. Born in Baltimore, MD on June 28, 1952 to Curtis Atwood Davies and Dorothea Kirchner Davies, Denae moved to Rutherfordton, NC from Severna Park, MD in 1989. Denae was a life-long teacher, beginning her career at Calvary Chapel Christian Academy in Glen Burnie, MD. After moving to Rutherfordton, Denae attended Bible school at the Word of Faith Fellowship where she would dedicate her life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Denae received her bachelor’s degree at Limestone College and two Master degrees in education at American University. Through her love for the Lord, she devoted the remaining 33 years of her life to being a servant to all whom she met. This is evident as she taught exceptional students at Isothermal Community College, taught English at the Word of Faith Christian School, lived 13 years in Ghana as a missionary teacher, then returned back to the Word of Faith Christian School to teach after being diagnosed with cancer. Her impact on the lives of so many people was truly “exceptional” because of the love she had for every student, and the extraordinary example she set before family and friends as she battled cancer for over 10 years. She rarely missed a day of school or church because of her love for Jesus, her family, her friends and her students. Denae was an “exceptional” woman, with “exceptional” gifts that she selflessly shared. All who knew her, loved her!

Denae is preceded in death by her father, Curtis A. Davies and older brother Curtis, Jr. Survivors are her mother Dorothea Davies and brother Charles Davies and wife, Connie; nephews Justin Davies and wife Mathilda; nephew Christopher Davies and wife Hannah; niece Caroline Staton and husband Samuel; great nephews and nieces, Carl Davies, Clayton Davies, Felicia Davies, Abrielle Staton, and Nathaniel Staton.

Denae will be greatly missed by family, and her many dear friends. Funeral services will be held 6:30 P.M., Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Word of Faith Fellowship. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Word of Faith Fellowship Christian School.
