Obituary for Corene McDaniel (Smith)
Corene Smith McDaniel, 102, of Rutherfordton, NC, died on July 14, 2022 at her home praising Jesus with her loving family surrounding her. Everyone who knew her, knew her as the most loving, sweet wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was so caring, always thinking about others, laying down her life for others, and so appreciative for anything you did for her. She loved Jesus and was always praising Him and thanking Him for all He had done for her. She made the decision she was ready to go be with Him, and right before she passed away she said, “I am going to heaven now. I love everyone. Tell everyone I love them and I am going.” And she went praising God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Major and Bertha Smith; husband, Hoston McDaniel, and son, Boyd McDaniel; six brothers, Eldon and Louise Smith, James and Marie Smith, Clyde Smith, Oliver Smith and Leona and Myrtle, Mac Smith, Dewey and Libby Smith; two sisters, Blanche and Bill Brock, Ruth and Hoyle Roper.
She is survived by two precious daughters, Margaret Hoerner of Hummelstown, PA, Betty McKee of Charlotte, NC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; sister-in-law Jean Smith; brothers, Harold Smith and friend Carolyn, JB and Kathy Smith, Morris and Wanda Smith, Clay and Robin Smith; sister, Doris and Joe Elliott.
She worked many years at Stonecutter and then General Fireproofing until she retired. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Forest City and present member of Word of Faith Fellowship. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 6:00 pm at the Word of Faith Fellowship, 207 Old Flynn Road, Spindale, NC with Rev. Sam and Jane Whaley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Word of Faith Building Fund.
