Obituary for Carrie Bryson

Carrie Sprouse Bryson went to be with the Lord on November, 29, 2019. She was born in Rutherford County, NC on February 7, 1975 the late Steve Sprouse and Barbara Shehan Sprouse. Carrie was passionate about her career as a social worker. Her desire in life was to see that every child had a safe home and loving parents. Carrie was member of Bryson City Church of God.


Carrie graduated high school in 1993 from RS Central High School. She then earned her Associates degree in 1996 from Isothermal Community College. She graduated with honors wearing gold from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 1997. She was also a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a member of Pi Gamma Mu. Carrie took her first social work mentoring in Rutherford County, NC From there she travel to Jackson County for many years. After leaving there her finally work ended at the Swain County, NC Department of Social Services. There her work family gave her love and compassion.


In addition to her mother, she is survived a daughter Keaira Bryson and her dad Curtis Bryson, a stepmother April Bryson, her loving cancer dog, “Buddy”, a sister Amy Sprouse Chapman of Forest City, NC, Special aunts Sharon Shehan Parton (Stan) Georgia and Debbie Shehan Sipe (Steve), Lincolnton, three nieces, one great niece, and one great nephew, and Allyson Barnes, a sister of love, who gave Carrie love. Blood doesn’t make you family love does.


A memorial service was held at The Bryson City Church of God, at 1:00pm, Tuesday December 3, 2019, with Reverend Marty Pressley officiating. The family received friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm before the service.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 12:00pm at The Southern Baptist Cemetery in Rutherfordton, NC. The family will receive friends at the Christian Life Center from 11:00 am until 12:00pm. Memorial service will be at 12 noon. Stan Parton and Steve Sipe will officiate. Local arrangements for Carrie’s home town are being handled by Crowe’s Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com.
