Obituary for Caroline Seyboldt

With joy and thankfulness in her heart, Caroline Seyboldt of Rutherfordton, North Carolina entered
her heavenly home on September 7, 2022. Caroline was born to a family of faith and love in Lincoln
Nebraska on March 28, 1931.

Caroline was known to all as a vivacious, classy, loving and beautiful lady who was always at her best.
Her faith, generosity, zest for life, and unrestrained confidence in those whom she loved served as an
inspiration to many. She was an artist with a keen eye for beauty, inspired by what she saw in God’s
creation.

Her fond memories of growing up under the loving care of her parents, the late Reverend Arthur
John and Erna Lohrmann Doege, together with her four siblings, came up routinely in stories that she
re-told with happiness and pride. Caroline is survived by her youngest brother Karl (Graham) Doege
of Boone NC, and preceded in death by her siblings Ted (Ann) Doege, Esther (Don) Pahl, and Arthur
Doege.

Caroline was blessed with four children through her late husband Carl W. “Bill” Seyboldt, five step
children from her marriage to the late Neville Fuleihan, and many grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Her oldest son, Charles Seyboldt, recently preceded her in death and is no doubt
rejoicing with her in the full company of heaven. She is survived by her children Reverend David
(Jane) Seyboldt of South Bend IN, Ann (Dooley O’Rourke) Seyboldt of Buffalo NY, and Steven Seyboldt
of Rutherfordton NC, and her stepchildren Neill (Miranda) Fuleihan of Brevard NC, Dr. Mickey (Chris)
Coleman of Hendersonville NC, Brian (Jeanie) Fuleihan of Fort Mill SC, Patrick (Rocky) Fuleihan of
Las Vegas NV, and Maureen (Dave) Golupski of Presto PA.

Caroline’s life occupations began at a young age as a typist for her father at Concordia Bronxville in
New York. Caroline graduated from Bronxville High School in 1949, and went on to college at
Valparaiso University. After receiving her degree in Political Science she worked in office
administration before beginning her work raising her family. She was a constant and supportive
presence for her children and created a warm, welcoming home. She was a talented seamstress and
artist, and regularly served as a volunteer at her church and in her communities.

Following her marriage to Neville Fuleihan, she built a life with him in the Rutherfordton community,
where she delighted in working with him in his law office. She also worked at length with members
of her community on the Rutherfordton Small Town Economic Development Program (STEP),
volunteering as secretary, and most recently enjoyed being a part of her church community, taking
particular joy in singing in the choirs at Fairfield Mountains Chapel and First Methodist of
Rutherfordton.

The sparkle in her eye and the warmth of her smile reflected the great love that she knew in this life,
and those of us that knew her are richer having seen that love.
“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” 1 John 4:11

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Thursday September 29, 2022 at First United Methodist
Church, 264 N. Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC with Dr. In Yong Lee officiating.
