Obituary for Barbara Jane "BJ" McRorie (Kiser)

Barbara Jane (BJ) Kiser McRorie, 76, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina passed away on April 14, 2021 after a very recent ALS onset. Barbara Jane was preceded in death by her parents, George Leon and Sarah Bland Kiser. She is survived by her husband, Robert Grant McRorie, Jr and her three children; Margaret McRorie Kirk (Hailey) of Franklin, TN, Robert Grant (Mac) McRorie III (Ursula) of Huntersville, NC and George Warren McRorie (Andrea) of Davidson, NC. Barbara Jane has seven grandchildren; Sarah Kirk Florian (Hunter) (24), William Hailey Kirk IV (Sarah Catherine) (22), Alexander Grant McRorie (17), Ava Ione McRorie (15), Luke Christopher McRorie (15), Catherine Louise McRorie (14) and Gracyn Barbara McRorie (13) and her brothers George Leon Kiser, Jr (Jane) and Stephen Bland Kiser (Jane).
Barbara Jane was born in Kannapolis, NC. Growing up, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. Barbara Jane was an all-state basketball player and graduate of A.L. Brown High School. She continued her studies at UNC-G graduating in 1966.
After retiring in 2001, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton. Weekly, she cooked meals for the Welcome Table and also served as the treasurer for the Women’s Circle. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by all who have known her.
A memorial service will be held in the outdoor garden at the First United Methodist on April 17th, 264 N Main St, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 at 11:00 am. Following the service, the family will welcome family and friends at their home, 1589 Darlington Rd, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 from 1:00 to 4:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills at P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or to First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton.
