A South Bend, Indiana native and New Carlisle High graduate Bill was a natural born athlete. From playing football, basketball, baseball and track in high school he took his love of sports well into his life by being a coach to many youths in the communities both in Indiana and NC. He began his coaching career at the age of 22, coaching both basketball and football at St. Adalberts and Holy Family Schools for 19 years and could be found spending the summer months coaching numerous years in little league baseball. Having worked at Torrington for 23 years, he was transferred to North Carolina in 1984 where he worked for Torrington/Timken for another 22 years before retiring. Upon making NC his new home he continued his passion for coaching spending 34 years as a basketball coach at the Spindale House. An avid golfer, Bill was a member of Rutherfordton Golf Club where he resided as President for numerous years. In addition to golf, he loved to shag (beach dancing) where he was a member of the Rutherford County Shag Club. Although he loved his activities and coaching his heart was deeply entrenched in his family and friends. A truly selfless man, Bill would do anything for the people he knew and loved.
