Chester Wood Walker, age 76, of Rutherfordton, NC went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 23rd 2019. Chester was the son of the late Owen and Alyce Moore Walker. Survivors include his wife Carole Walker; sister Patricia Walker Jackson (Stanley); son Paul Walker (Michelle Yelton); daughter Shauna Kerkhoff (Scott); granddaughter Ashlee Kerkhoff, and Paige Walker; Great grandchild Emma; Stepsons Sean Jaynes and Andrew Jaynes (Catrina).
Chester was a 1960 graduate of RS Central High School, after graduation he severed for four years in the US Navy. Chester enjoyed his career as a car salesman and later fulfilled his lifelong dream of “becoming a truck driver” owning Walker Trucking. In later years, he was a car transport driver for area dealerships and had just returned from a trip when he passed away suddenly.
Chester was a man who loved his family and was always there for them to lend a helping hand. He had a friendly nature, a warm smile and good sense of humor. He was a member of Gilkey United Methodist Church, a former Sunday school teacher and a deacon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday January 27th 2019 at 2:00PM at Gilkey United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 3:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of the Exceptional P.O. Box 46 Caroleen, NC 28019.
