Obituary for Carl Grogan Parker

Carl Grogan  Parker
Carl G. Parker, 87, of Union Mills, NC passed away peacefully August 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Alfred E. and Ida Raye Hall Parker. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, Pawpaw, father in law and friend. Carl was a member of Nealsville Church of God, serving as Sunday School Superintendent for over 40 years, and retired from Duke Power after 38 years of service.

Left to cherish Carl’s memory is his wife, Emma Arrowood Parker; son, Gary Parker and wife Teresa of Union Mills; daughter, Gail Pressley and husband Jeff of Rutherfordton; granddaughters, Kristin Parker and Kayla Parker of Union Mills, Madison Pressley of Rutherfordton; grandson, Andrew Pressley and wife Jordan of Marion; great grandson Hudson Pressley of Marion; and special niece Mary Lou Henson of Mooresboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Parker and a grandson, Tyler Parker Pressley.

Funeral services will be held 2PM Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Nealsville Church of God with Rev. Travis Cooke, Rev. Doug Carpenter and Rev. Ned Pressley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Crowe’s Mortuary, 118 College Avenue, Rutherfordton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nealsville Church of God Building Fund, 27 Bethel Church Road, Marion, NC 28752.

The family would like to thank Jordan Pressley for the tender care she gave Pawpaw during his illness.
