Champ Willis Allen Jr.
Champ Allen of Gilkey, NC departed this earthly life on May 14, 2017. Champ was born July 14, 1952 in Rutherfordton, NC, to the late Champ Willis Allen, Sr., and Bertha Mae Giles Allen. He worked for over 45 years as a carpenter. He was also a licensed massage therapist and the co-owner of Thera-ssage from 2003-2016.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 24 years, Laura Earwood Allen; his sisters, Sherry Allen and husband James of Ellenboro, Penny Allen Jones and husband Randy of Forest City, and April Allen of East Lansing, Michigan, one half-sister, Virginia Mathis; his mother-in-law, Margaret Lawson of Spindale; brothers-in-law Robert Earwood of Gilkey, and Alan and James Earwood, both of Melbourne Beach, FL, and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his half-brothers, Ronnie Allen and Bobby Allen. He was also the loving parent of two fur babies, Fido and Queenie. He also leaves behind hundreds of friends from the biker community, the recovery community, and the massage therapy community who loved and respected him. Champ was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and had a smile and a compliment for everyone he saw. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working with his hands, and traveling. He frequently attended massage conventions around the country with his wife, Laura, and had taken numerous trips to Ireland, which they both loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Receiving of friends will be Wednesday May 17 from 5-7 pm at Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton. The funeral will be Thursday, May 18, at 2 pm at Concord Baptist Church 720 Old US 74 Hwy, Bostic NC 28018.
