Obituary for Franklin David ""Frank"" Odum Sr.

Franklin David ""Frank""  Odum Sr.
Franklin David Odum Sr; born January 4, 1940 in Pickens County, SC; loving husband of 41 years to Ginger Odum; went home to be with Jesus Wednesday June 29, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer. We say farewell to our loved one, however, as a family we stand firm in fervent praise for the many blessings bestowed upon us. Christ’s love shined through Frank’s actions in helping and caring for others before himself.
Frank retired from Buncombe County Recreation Department. He spent 27 years coaching and mentoring youth in Buncombe County. He was an active member of Crestview Baptist Church where he enjoyed participating in the Baptist Men and was a US Army Veteran.
Celebrating his life in addition to his wife Ginger are his children David Odum Jr. and Dawn; Lyn Osteen and husband Carroll and Kim Coggins and husband Gary; grandchildren Cassidy Odum, Brent & Catherine, Zachary and Amy, Jake and Emily Rhodarmer, Justin Coggins and Jess, and Jaclyn and Brody Littley; five great grandchildren two sisters and a host of other loving family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and seven sisters.
Services will be held 11 AM Saturday July 2, 2016 at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Rhome officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 AM Saturday at Crestview Baptist Church prior to the services. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in Elk Mountain Cemetery in Woodfin, NC.
Military Honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard immediately following the service at Crestview Baptist Church.
