Lewis Marvin Yelton, Sr, age 89 of Forest City, died Wednesday, May 9 at Fair Haven. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Wesley and Media Hutchins Yelton. He was a milkman for Biltmore Dairy and retired from Rutherford County Schools. Lewis was a US Air Force veteran of WWII and a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Marvin Yelton, Jr and wife Kathleen of Forest City, James Roger Yelton and wife JoAnn of Honolulu, HI and James Yelton and special friend Lisa Morris of Charlotte; one sister, Mabel Mashburn of Spindale; one brother Cecil Yelton of Spindale; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Sue Yelton.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM Friday at Piney Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Toney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
